Let’s say I have a big data array filled with numbers. Like 100 000 of them.
Which is the best way to "loop through" the entire object?
I’ve been reading about multithreading, web workers and so on. Also if I should use .reduce instead of for-loops with bigger data.
Is those the best ways to go, theoretically?
Ive been trying to populate an array with 1000000 random numbers in my create react app. But it fails and says it to many re-renders. So I don’t know really where to begin. Should I split it numerous times or how should I think?
Looping through a huge data array can be a time-consuming process, but there are a few strategies to improve its performance.
- Multithreading: allows you to run multiple threads in parallel. This can greatly improve performance when processing large data arrays
.reduce()function is a powerful array method that lets you loop through an array and return a single item. When working with huge data arrays, it can be more efficient than using a for-loop.
.filter: can be more efficient than using a for-loop also, especially when dealing with large data arrays, it’s practical.
- Server-side rendering: it’s simple just move the data processing to the server of your app.
- Chunk the data: If you can’t move the processing to the
server-side, you can try to chunk the data into smaller chunks and process them separately.
In this scenario, because you’re attempting to generate an array with 1 million random numbers in a create-react-app`, you may try splitting the data into smaller chunks and processing the data in the background with web workers, that’s how I’ll do it. Keep in mind that the best approach will depend on the specific requirements of your application.
