How can I resolve pod install issue and successfully run pod install?

I’m experiencing the same issue while trying to recompile and build a project for a customer after a clean macOS Sonoma install and installing Xcode 15.4. When I run pod install, I encounter the following error:

It seems to be related to the rexml gem. How can I resolve this issue and successfully run pod install?

To resolve the issue, I followed these steps:

  1. Uninstalled CocoaPods:

    sudo gem uninstall cocoapods

  2. Uninstalled rexml:

    sudo gem uninstall rexml

  3. Installed CocoaPods version 1.13.0:

sudo gem install cocoapods -v 1.13.0

  4. Uninstalled rexml again (just to be safe).

  5. Installed rexml version 3.2.4:

sudo gem install rexml -v 3.2.4

After performing these steps, I was able to run pod install successfully without encountering the TypeError: wrong argument type String (expected Regexp) error.

It appears that the issue was caused by a compatibility problem between the latest versions of CocoaPods and rexml. By downgrading CocoaPods to version 1.13.0 and installing a specific version of rexml (3.2.4), the conflict was resolved.
