How to get list of application installed by user in android kotlin

I have looked at many different variations of code on how to get a list of installed applications and show them in a ListView to the user but none have been successful for me.

Also Some old methods are depicated which working for me. Kindly sugest a new way to get installed app list.

mainIntent.addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_LAUNCHER);
