To remove characters from a string after last dot(.)

Can anyone tell me how to remove characters from a string after a particular character, in my case DOT(.)

I have a string:

1110.400000.8001382

I need a SELECT query to remove all the characters after the last DOT(.)

Expected output is:

1110.400000

Any help would be much appreciated.

>Solution :

We can try a regex replacement here:

SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE('1110.400000.8001382', '\.[^.]*$', '') AS output  -- 1110.400000
FROM dual;
