  • Guil’s method
  • Ballard’s method

Ok, so:
Guil’s method uses polar coordinate representation for templates. It represents an object’s shape by encoding the relative positions of edge points with respect to a reference point. It also relies on angle and distance parameters for describing the shape of the object in the polar coordinate system. Guil’s method could involve trigonometric calculations.

Ballard’s method utilizes the Cartesian coordinate system for template representation. It encodes information about the relative positions of points with respect to a reference point using gradient direction histograms. It employs gradients and edge orientations to create histograms that represent the object’s shape, allowing for a more flexible representation. Ballard’s method might be computationally more efficient as it operates in Cartesian coordinates. They are more straightforward to hande computationally(Cartesian coordinates). 😉
