why i am getting error in recyclerView.layoutmanager=linearlayout

You have to infer the correct type for the findViewById method, otherwise the recyclerview variable will be a generic View and not a RecyclerView

val recyclerView = findViewById<RecyclerView>(R.id.recyclerView)
